Thanks for the welcome to the Forum! An NE-1 Question:  My buddy has an L-4B/J3C-65 with a C85-12F installed.  Great little airplane painted up as an NE-1.  He is going to sell it and is wondering if it was one of the Cubs set aside for, and used by the Navy.  A search at Maxwell shows it going to Post Fiel (Ft. Sill) in August 1942, then to Army Ground Forces in December 1942...then a long gap until November 1946 where it goes to 4168th Base Unit, South Plains, Texas.   Appreciate any input.  There must be a list of serial numbers that were provided to the Navy somewhere...
