Here are a couple of shots (not all) from my research on message pickups. Have any of you guys ever seen one of these devices? If you have one, or know where I could find one, I would be much obliged.

I don't know what the technical name for it is, don't know the manufacturer, etc... but would certainly like to have one so that we can do demonstrations of this:

A poster from WIX added this link: http://www.postalmuseum.si.edu/museum/1d_skyhooking_container.html to the thread I posted over there. Are any of you aware of US Army diagrams or instructions for this?

Looks like a antenna reel modification, haven't seen that one before..... it would make sense, they quit using them later in the war. There were quite a few laying around.

I've seen these go for better than a $1000.00, there was someone on the one of the Stinson groups that was building a replica, not sure how much they charged for them...

Well, I'd rather not bid against you, but there is an auction on Ebay for one right now... see this thread over on WIX: http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27738

Well, I'd personally be content with a decent replica if I could get a good master to compare it to and duplicate.

My L-4 would have come out with one, but it would have been either taken out because they didn't mount a radio in it or the radio that was mounted required a whip type antenna. If I can ever get it back together, I think that I will opt for the summer 1944 whip arrangement... so go for it! I won't bid aginst you....

Well I'd desperately love it, but seeing as I'm just trying to get the funds together to buy a rudder from a member on here - I'm a bit stuck! Plus the $ to the £ just isn't what it used to be! I'll kepp watching it though! In fact anyone out there want any German wartime Radio equipment - I'd happily flog it to fund this baby!

I was talking to the chap who was planning to make the new reels - although i kept asking, it appears none ever got made.

Does anyone have any drawings for the antenna?

I don't have any drawings yet. I'd also like to get some more detail on that reel...
