Served in the ETO throughout the war and then was a Capt. in the 99th Field Artillery Battalion of the 1st Cav division that was based at Camp Drake in Ota, Japan (just outside of Tokyo) as a part of the occupation force from 1945-49.

One of his L-5s (ETO or Japan???)

BTW this is my tribute to him and the 99th FAB 1st Cav:

I also have Capt. Schalliols uniform, medals, and photos that will be displayed with my a/c at Oshkosh '09... and by displayed, I mean I'll be wearing it as a tribute... good thing dad can't fit into it!

I'll post some details later, but yes I am going to OSH. My goal is to get it judged in the Post-WWII category to win. Cross your fingers!
