Sentinel mentioned he had a '39 cub that served with CPT during WWII. Did CPT a/c wear a military or civilian scheme?

Depends on where it was based but I'm pretty sure most if not all the cubs in the CPT were civilian colors. i know this 1 was. How ever the stearmans and larger were mostly blue and yellow. There is a great book called "Chino Warbird Treasures Past and Present" that shows a lot of the CPT aircraft here.
