PostSubject: Beech Restorations   Wed May 06, 2009 8:45 am

I thought this website may interest those on the forum - as well as Austering when I can, I also volunteer with a group called Beech Restorations, who are restoring a Beech 18 and a T6 Texan, as well as two other T6's (well, one's a Harvard), all for flight. Another Beech 18 with the Volpar nose gear we were looking after then repainted has since flown down to Australia, after previously being in the USA.

Here's a few photos I took from our open day last Sunday

This tug actually served on HMS Ark Royal in the 1950's

Our T6 was in the film 'Empire of the Sun', mocked up as a Japanese 'Zero', with Christian Bale sat in the front seat!

And our Beech 18, freshly polished by myself and another volunteer and looking very nice. The engines off this one came from the Beech 18 used in the James Bond film 'Octopussy', which we then sold on to a museum in Holland
